Meet The Founder Of Loxy Locks Hair Academy
Hi, I’m Lauren, founder of Loxy Locks Hair Academy.
My journey into hair extensions began in 2017, when my daughter was still little. I loved being a stay-at-home mum, but I’ve always had a strong drive and ambition to build something for myself. I’d always had a passion for hair growing up, but I knew traditional hairdressing, especially colouring, wasn’t the path I wanted to take. One day, I came across a one-day, five-method hair extension course online. I booked it on a whim… and that decision completely changed everything. I started as a mobile extensionist, driving around in my little green Vauxhall Corsa, building my client base from the ground up. Over the years, I’ve invested heavily in my education, continuously developing my skills and knowledge to deliver the highest standard of work.
My dedication has led to industry recognition, including:
4th Place – Hair Extension Specialist of the Year (East Midlands, 2023 – HBA)
1st place - Best for Hair Extensions (2022)
Top 5 Regional Winner (2023) in both Hair Extension Specialist of the Year and Hair Loss / Replacement of the Year
Alongside my initial training, I have completed advanced courses in wig making, Naked Weave, and both mesh and meshless integration systems with leading academies such as Iconic Hair and Godiva Hair Academy. Today, I am based at Loxy Locks Hair Academy in Belper, Derbyshire, a space I’ve created to feel warm, welcoming and truly personal. It’s more than just a studio; it’s somewhere clients can feel comfortable, understood and confident. Since opening the studio, I’ve also achieved my Level 3 AET (Award in Education and Training), allowing me to expand into education and launch Loxy Locks Hair Academy, where I now train others to build successful careers in the industry with my hair bestie Laura. Meet my hair bestie, Laura!
Hi, I’m Laura. I began my journey in the hair industry over 18 years ago as a mobile hairdresser, before specialising in hair extensions in 2016. Over the years, I’ve built a strong reputation for creating natural, high-quality results across a wide range of extension methods, working with clients of all ages, hair types, and budgets.
As a mum of two boys, I understand the importance of creating a flexible and successful career that works around real life.
Alongside my hands-on industry experience, I am also Level 3 AET (Award in Education & Training) qualified, allowing me to combine practical expertise with professional teaching skills.
Together with Lauren, founder of Loxy Locks Hair Academy, we are bringing our experience, knowledge, and passion together to create a supportive and inspiring training environment for future stylists.
We’ve been doing each other’s hair extensions for years and through our shared passion for the industry, formed a lovely friendship. Now, we’re combining our skills and experience to help others build confidence and build successful careers within the hair industry.
Our mission is to offer more than just hair extension training. We provide real industry knowledge, proven techniques, ongoing support, and honest guidance to help students develop confidence, grow their skills, and elevate their careers.
